Ren Clayton joined WCCO-TV in October 2021. He grew up in Chanhassen, Minnesota, but most recently lived on the beaches of Hawaii!
After graduating from Concordia University, St. Paul, Ren produced a high school sports magazine show in the Twin Cities, then worked as a weekend sports anchor at KOTA-TV in Rapid City, South Dakota, and KHON2 in Honolulu.
Ren has covered it all, from surfing, to rodeo, to hurricanes. He's grateful to be back working in his hometown, covering the teams and people he grew up with.
When he's not working, you can find Ren playing golf in the summer and snowboarding in the winter.

The trials will take place June 27-30 at Target Center, USA Gymnastics said. The 2024 Olympic team will be announced live at the end of the events.

Sunny Sonnheim's house gets an awful lot of shade. That's because tucked away in the backyard of her White Bear Lake home looms a giant cottonwood tree.
"I used to play football with my brother sometimes," said Hopkins 8th grade student Promise Hubbert. "I wanted to play on a team but they had no girls teams."

WCCO's Ren Clayton reports MSHSL has reversed its decision after suspending the boys last week for playing too many elite tournament rounds, going over the allowed limit.
Gabbie Hughes made her first U.S. senior women's national team and played in the World Championships from April 5 to 16.
The league says the five boys played too many elite tournament rounds, going over the allowed limit. But their parents have documentation that they were approved to play.
"He would go to their hockey games and whatever else and he would always make sure he was there," said head coach Jessica Kammann. "In the middle of December, he stopped coming. It was too hard for him to get there."
