Chelsea Jones is the Weekend Evening Anchor at CBS News Miami, where she brings dynamic storytelling and in-depth reporting to South Florida audiences. Since joining CBS News Miami in November 2022, Chelsea has quickly become a trusted face in the community, delivering impactful news stories and anchoring coverage during key evening broadcasts.
Before moving to Miami, Chelsea worked in Providence, Rhode Island, where she served as an anchor and reporter. During her time in the Northeast, she covered a wide range of stories, from local politics and weather events to breaking news and community-driven features.
Notably, Chelsea's work has earned her multiple accolades, including an Emmy Award for her reporting on the Florida Panthers' historic Stanley Cup win in 2024. In addition to her Emmy recognition, Chelsea has received two Edward R. Murrow Awards for her reporting on a barricade situation with Providence Police and her exploration of the Underground Railroad in Rhode Island.
Chelsea is also a two-time Emmy-nominated journalist, with nominations for her coverage of a mass shooting in Providence and her special report, "Cory's Cause," which spotlighted a local athlete's inspiring journey from addiction to advocacy.
Her career also includes significant work in Louisiana, where she won two Louisiana Association of Broadcasters Awards in 2020. Chelsea extensively covered the 2019 governor's race, including live coverage of President Donald Trump's visit to the state and election night as incumbent Governor John Bel Edwards won re-election.
A graduate of the University of Maryland's Philip Merrill College of Journalism, Chelsea is deeply committed to community-focused journalism. She has moderated important panels discussing the impact of women in politics, economics, and culture, as well as topics around equity and social justice.
Throughout her career, Chelsea has emceed numerous events, engaging with communities across South Florida, Rhode Island, and Louisiana.
