Biden considering pardons for Trump critics

CBS News has learned President Biden is considering issuing preemptive pardons for some of President-elect Donald Trump's biggest critics. Among the names being floated are Dr. Anthony Fauci, who served as the top science adviser during the height of COVID-19, California Democratic Senator-elect Adam Schiff, who led the first impeachment effort against Trump, and former Congresswoman Liz Cheney, who was part of the House committee that investigated the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol. CBS News chief White House correspondent Nancy Cordes has more.

Hegseth passing on meetings with moderates

President-elect Donald Trump's Cabinet choices have been making the rounds on Capitol Hill to meet with the senators who will vote for their confirmation, but defense secretary pick Pete Hegseth has so far kept his meetings to those who have been firm in their support of Trump. Hegseth is facing renewed allegations of misconduct from when he was part of a veterans charity in 2016. CBS News congressional correspondent Scott MacFarlane has more on that and talks over federal disaster relief funds.
