WH press secretary on poor Biden poll numbers

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre responded to a question about the accuracy of polling and the bad poll numbers President Biden has been getting during Monday's press briefing. "We're not gonna change the minds of Americans," Jean-Pierre said. "I get that. Americans are gonna feel how they feel and we're gonna respect that … What I can tell you is how we see things. And we believe experience, this president having experience to get things done, is important."

How the House government funding bill passed

The House on Tuesday passed a two-step plan from Speaker Mike Johnson to fund federal agencies into the new year, sending the legislation to the Senate days before the approaching deadline to avert a government shutdown. The short-term measure cleared the House in a 336 to 95 vote. Known as a continuing resolution, it received substantial support from House Democrats, who helped ensure its passage over the objections of dozens of Republicans. Sen. Tim Scott drops out of presidential race

Republican Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina announced Sunday he is dropping out of the 2024 presidential race. Scott announced the unexpected decision, just two months shy of the Iowa caucuses, on Fox News' "Sunday Night in America with Trey Gowdy." His departure from the GOP race followed the abrupt cancellation of all his campaign stops in Iowa this weekend after he came down with the flu. CBS News political director Fin Gómez has more.
