New federal worker COVID-19 requirements

President Biden is expected to announce new COVID-19 requirements for all civilian federal workers following the revised mask guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. If workers choose not to get vaccinated, they will have to follow strict protocols, such as regular testing. Alonzo Plough, the chief science officer for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and a former public health official, discussed the new requirements with CBSN's Tanya Rivero.

Doctor on CDC's new mask guidance

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is now recommending that some fully vaccinated Americans wear masks indoors. The new guidance affects people living in areas with substantial or high COVID-19 transmission rates. COVID Delta variant behaves "uniquely different," CDC says

As CBS News' Lilia Luciano reports, the Centers for Disease Control has updated its mask guidance as the Delta variant sends new COVID infections skyrocketing. Some vaccinated Americans are now being advised to mask up. Mask guidance changing for vaccinated people

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is expected to revise its mask guidance, saying fully vaccinated Americans should wear masks indoors in communities where there is substantial or high transmission of COVID-19, a federal official told CBS News. During her daily press briefing, White House press secretary Jen Psaki told reporters, "The reality is we are dealing with a much different strain of this virus than we were," and she said the vaccines continue to provide protection against the coronavirus. Surge in COVID-19 cases in some areas

The U.S. is seeing an outbreak of new coronavirus cases in areas where vaccination rates remain low.
