Iconic Boston Marathon runner Dick Hoyt has died at 80

The Boston Athletic Association said more than 16,000 runners finished the virtual 2020 race.
The race will instead be held virtually in September.
Race organizers posted a message to health care professionals and other frontline workers: "We'll wait to start until you reach the finish."
"Our priority right now is the health and safety of our runners," said Boston's mayor.
It will take place "at some later date."
"They're my training motivation. If I stop running, I may never start again. They give me inspiration," Peter Kline says

A Marine veteran from Ohio fell to his knees at mile 22 of the Boston Marathon and crawled to the finish line. He was determined to finish the race for his three comrades who lost their lives.
The 123rd Boston Marathon was won by Lawrence Cherono of Kenya in the men's race, and Worknesh Degefa of Ethiopia among the women. The race also showcased the perseverance of a Marine veteran who literally crawled across the finish line.
The results from the 123rd Boston Marathon are in and there were some surprise winners this year. Despite high winds and rain, this year's marathon featured a photo finish on the men's side by Lawrence Cherono of Kenya and a dominant performance by Worknesh Degefa of Ethiopia on the women's side.
