United Way Toilet Paper Drive

United Way's 6th Annual Toilet Paper Drive held at Cal Expo on June12th, helped offset the cost of this necessary staple that costs local nonprofits thousands of dollars each year. United Way collected 161,058 rolls of toilet paper from the community – the equivalent of more than $161,000 that nonprofits can use toward life-changing services. The Toilet paper is distributed the following week to United Way's 160+certified nonprofit partners in Amador, El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento and Yolo Counties.

R.Douglas Fashion Show fundraiser for WEAVE

The R. Douglas Custom Clothier Fashion Show June 14th on K Street celebrated the one year anniversary of the R. Douglas Showroom. The much-anticipated fashion show and auction supported local men's fashion and WEAVE's Suited for Success program with MC Mark. S Allen and auctioneer David Sobon. Over 40 local male models showcased menswear styling from Ryan Hammonds, owner of R. Douglas. With a background in fashion design, Ryan serves as an image specialist and designer for a distinguished clientele including local and state government officials, attorneys, finance professionals, business owners, and ministers.

The Sacramento Regional Conservation Corps 17th Annual "Breakfast on the River"

The Sacramento Regional Conservation Corps' (SRCC) 17th Annual Breakfast on the River Event Celebrating 30 years, of serving Sacramento's young adults, ages 18 - 25 was held on June 6th at Discovery Park. Guests visited interactive display booths show casing the paid work experience projects and education and training they receive while working on projects that benefit the community. Two Corpsmembers were awarded the Corpsmember of the Year Award. One from the Sacramento Main Center and one from the SRCC's Citrus Heights Satellite. The Sacramento Regional Conservation Corps (SRCC) is Sacramento's largest education and workforce training program for young adults 18 – 25 years of age. Established by the Sacramento Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, the SRCC has been empowering young adults through opportunities for education and paid work experience for close to three decades. The Corps currently serves Sacramento, Yolo, El Dorado, Placer and eastern Solano Counties.

City Year Sacramento presented the 2nd annual women's leadership event on June 4th at the California Museum with VIP reception and dinner. The sold out event also honored the work of leading women and celebrated the increasing impact of female leaders in philanthropy and in their communities. City Year Sacramento deploys 50 highly skilled corps members to serve in five schools: Father Keith B. Kenny, Fern Bacon Middle School, Leataata Floyd Elementary, Oak Ridge Elementary School, and Rosa Parks Middle School.

Salvation Army Community Luncheon "Spirit of Caring"

Billed as the largest event of its kind in California's capital region, with nearly 1,000 business and governmental leaders in attendance, the Salvation Army held its 23 rd Annual Community Luncheon. The event was an opportunity to showcase its programs; give a fiscal and service report to the community; and thank and recognize the individuals and companies who, through their community service activities or programs, have shown a long history of helping people in need. • The Salvation Army will also honored Safe Credit Union CEO Henry Wirz with the Spirit of Caring award for his extensive community service work and leadership.
