The Sacramento Asian Pacific Chamber of Commerce (SACC) held their BizTalk Speaker Series at the Milagro Experience in Carmichael, November 10, 2016. BizTalks aim to inspire and educate regional businesses through powerful discussions with some of the most dynamic and influential minds in our region. Moderated by Jim Alves, Economic Development & Partnership, SMUD, panelists included Jake Mossawir, President & CEO of St. HOPE; Jimmy Crabbe; Entrepreneur and Ash Roughani, Program Manager, Mayor's Office for Innovation & Entrepreneurship. Panelists discussed the look ahead for the city and any opportunities, securing local participation and supporting our local community.

Pantsuit Nation Group Photo at the State Capitol

The Pantsuit Nation Photo Shoot Sacramento started with just a few friends wanting to come together for a photo of them wearing their pantsuits in support of Sen. Hillary Clinton and in less than 24 hours it grew to over 250 people responding to a Facebook invite. The photo shoot became a meeting place for Sacramento to come together and celebrate casting their vote for the first woman president, wearing their pantsuits in support of Sen. Hillary Clinton as well as some attendees wearing all white in honor of the Suffragettes who fought for women's right to vote. We had over 100 women, men and kids show up on the West Steps of the Capitol to commemorate this historic day on November 8th.

California Automobile Museum ART OF THE CAR Fundraiser

The California Automobile Museum presented the annual benefit ART OF THE CAR starring artist, David Garibaldi on November 4, 2016. Sponsorship helped support the Museum's mission to preserve, exhibit and teach the story of the automobile and its influence on our lives, fund Youth and Adult Education Classes, exhibits, and extensive collections.

Feast for WEAVE fundraiser

On November 5, more 100 guests filled Mulvaney's B & L for Feast for WEAVE. The guests were inspired by Sabrina who shared her story and WEAVE's role in supporting her following a sexual assault. Through sponsorships, raffle, auction, and donations, the guests raised $113,680 to ensure 24/7 services for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and sex trafficking - the most ever raised by Feast for WEAVE in its seven years.

Roberts Family Development Center 15th Anniversary Breakfast Celebration

On Friday, November 4th, Roberts Family Development Center celebrated 15 years of serving the community at The Grand on J street. It was clearly a morning dedicated to the children they serve with over 100 kids from local area schools opening the celebration with a wonderful song about strength and perseverance. Perseverance was the theme of the morning with keynote speaker Darrell Steinberg speaking about the vision Derrell and Tina had 15 years ago blossoming into what it is today. A preschool along with a multi site afterschool and summer camp operation with over 500 kids in attendances daily. Awards were given to community leaders Senator Holly Mitchell, Lynne Cannady, Dr. Marsha Mills, Tim Ray, the late Phil Schott and SMUD. The morning was complete with TV personality Mark S. Allen serving as the theatrical MC.

Earlier this year, Amazon announced they would open a fulfillment center in the County expanding their ability to deliver products to customers and beginning a new relationship with the region.

Make-A-Wish Wake Up Wishes Breakfast

Make-A-Wish® Northeastern California and Northern Nevada celebrated a milestone by granting the chapter's 6,000th wish to unsuspecting five-year-old Shylah at the Hyatt Regency, downtown Sacramento on Nov.2nd. The more than 600 guests enjoyed hearing highlights from several local wish child stories, which demonstrated the power of a wish and the hope it brings to children battling life-threatening illnesses. Shylah, who battles lymphoma, wished to have a princess RV road trip for her and her family. Sponsored by chapter founder Frank Ramos, Shylah was surprised at the event with the RV fitted for a princess that will take her family down the coast and eventually to Disneyland next week.

The goal of our Placer Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program is to prevent abused, neglected, and abandoned children from becoming lost in the Juvenile Dependency system and working to find them safe, permanent homes as soon as possible

The 8th Annual Sacramento Region Internal Study Mission was on Oct 20-21st The Host Committee invited business leaders and Chamber members to join 8th Annual Internal Study Mission. The attendees visited prominent locations throughout Sacramento to take an inside look at the assets, talents and Next Economy opportunities of the six-county region.
