On February 2nd, Casa Garden Restaurant had a special "Pop Up" dinner with Chef Kurt Spataro. Chef Spataro team included the Casa Garden Restaurant Manager/Chef Vivian Cheung, Kitchen Supervisor/Chef Laura Ferrell and American River College Culinary Program Chef, Teresa Urkofsky. Garden Restaurant and Meeting Center operates solely to support the Sacramento Children's Home.

On January 31st, Asian Resources, Inc (ARI) celebrated the 17th Annual Lunar New year with dinner and awards at Happy Garden Seafood Restaurant, honoring Assemblymember, Jim Cooper and Nilda Valmores, Executive Director, My Sister's House. Asian Resources is a non-profit community based organization established in 1980 dedicated to providing multiple social services needed in our community, empowering everyone we serve to become a vital part of our changing, diverse society.
On January 30th the Habitat for Humanity 25th Annual Hammy Awards and Dinner was held at The Center at 2300. This annual awards and celebration dinner brings together Habitat supporters, donors, volunteers, and ReStore partners to celebrate all that was accomplished in the past year and recognize outstanding members of the Habitat support community. Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and worldwide through constructing, rehabilitating and preserving homes; by advocating for fair and just housing policies; and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions.
The Sacramento Black Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual Installation and Awards Luncheon at the Hilton Sacramento Arden West on January 23rd for over 300 members, sponsors and supporters. It was the Chamber's 34th Installation event. Awards were given to the SBCC's Presenting Sponsor, SMUD who received the Community Partnership award and to Lorrie Clark, who earned the coveted Volunteer of the Year award. Lorrie is a Project Manager for the City of Sacramento's Economic Development Department. On January 22, Downtown Sacramento Partnership hosted the 21st annual State of Downtown breakfast for more than 800 local community and business leaders to celebrate downtown progress made in the last year and be inspired for what's to come. Alongside a very special JVance Stewart Community Service Award presentation in memoriam of board member Ali Youssefi for his commitment to making the city a better place for everyone, Michael Ault, executive director of the Downtown Partnership, shared new economic benchmarks building value in downtown. Former Deputy Mayor of Seattle Kate Joncas challenged the group to think big in the next decade and Mayor Darrell Steinberg announced Ron Burkle joined Sacramento Republic FC as lead investor to strengthen its MLS bid and hopes of a soccer stadium and entertainment district in the Railyards. Kaiser Permanente also announced they have finalized the purchase of 18 acres in the Railyards, where they will build a new state-of-the-art medical center. 2019 will be an exciting year for Sacramento!
On January 17th, the Chamber held the 72nd annual Installation and Awards dinner at the West Sacramento Civic Center and welcome address from outgoing Board Chair, Terry Harvego, and the introduction of the 2019 Incoming Board Chair, Jaclyn Powell. On January 8, at the Golden One Center, First 5 of Sacramento held "Raise UP Sacramento" and awards.
