Sacramento Police: Discovery Of Latest Decapitated Carcass 'Suspicious'
SACRAMENTO (CBS13/AP) - The carcass of a dead, decapitated animal was discovered in a bag in Sacramento on Saturday night
Neighbors reportedly found the parts inside a paper bag the area of South Land Park Drive and Silver Ridge Way and called police, according to a Sacramento Police Department statement.
Animal control officers and crime scene investigators responded to the scene.
Police aren't positive that the incident is connected to the other mutilation cases in Sacramento, which include decapitated chickens and the body parts of lambs and cows. In some cases, small amounts of cash or lighted candles have accompanied the remains.
Near the end June, the body of a goat, its head, and a bag of chickens were discovered along with a decapitated rat and catfish on the light-rail tracks at 26th Avenue between 24th Street and Franklin Boulevard. In in another incident in early March, a Sacramento Bee reporter found a bag of headless chickens at 19th and W Streets.
The U.S. Humane Society and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals are offering $10,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
