19-year-old motorcyclist killed after running red light in Chippewa Township, police say
A 19-year-old is dead after police said he drove through a red light in Chippewa Township and crashed into a car.
The crash happened along Route 51 near the Chippewa Towne Center around 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday. According to police paperwork, Brandon Booher was driving at "high speeds" before he went through a steady red signal and hit a Toyota Yaris that was coming out of the shopping center.
Booher was pronounced dead at the scene, and police said the driver of the Yaris was taken to the hospital.
"It happened so fast I was in complete disbelief," said Lyndsay Krut, who was in Beaver County for a sporting event Tuesday night. She recorded a video of Booher before the crash.
"I heard a motorcycle revving a lot, like going really fast, then I heard police sirens. I stopped, waited and listened," Krut said. "And he flew past the whole intersection and crashed as soon as we got the green light and the car in front of me started to go. It was crazy."
Constitution Boulevard was a trail of wreckage and twisted metal. Shards of car and motorcycle were scattered everywhere. Flowers now mark the site of the tragedy.
"It's really sad. I'm sorry that he lost his life, but I know there needs to be a little bit more less reckless driving around, especially on motorcycles around this time of year. Not blaming him at all or anything, things happen, but it could've been prevented, I feel."
