In a single day, nearly 2,300 doses of the measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine were provided to Temple University students, faculty and staff.
The MMR vaccine, for measles, mumps and rubella, will be available to all Temple students, faculty and staff on Wednesday and Friday in an effort to contain the outbreak.
Due to the growing number of mumps cases, Temple University will be holding two walk-in vaccination clinics this week.
There are now 99 confirmed and probable cases of mumps in the Temple community.
Students, faculty and staff will be able to receive the Mumps-Measles-Rubella (MMR) vaccine free of charge.
As the mumps outbreak continues to rise at Temple University, some students want the college to take preventative action.
The mentoring was set up through Temple student Donovan Forrest and the non-profit he started, DonCARES of Philadelphia, Inc.
Health officials now say there are 42 probable cases and 12 confirmed cases.
Temple University officials now say there are now 49 confirmed mumps cases in Philadelphia and surrounding counties.
The university is also taking steps to update its immunization policy in wake of the outbreak.
