PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A 25-year-old woman is in critical condition after being stabbed multiple times by a set of two home kitchen knives by a male. Police believe the incident was a domestic related issue between the male and the female.

Authorities say this happened outside of a row house in West Philadelphia around 7:00 p.m.

The woman was transported to Penn Presbyterian Hospital, the male fled the scene. The medics were immediately concerned with the stab wounds on her back. Police do not know the motive that lead to this, but do know that the male and female did know each other.

Police are currently investigating and interviewing so the male can be apprehended.
