The victim was on the southbound 6 train platform when a man walked up to him and pushed him onto the tracks.
A 74-year-old man was pushed onto the subway tracks overnight in what appears to be a random, unprovoked attack. CBS New York's Christina Fan reports from the scene on the Upper East Side.
Service is suspended in both directions between Port Washington and Great Neck.
The woman was pronounced dead at the hospital, police said.
The MTA said there will be impacts to the evening rush due to the disabled train.
