New Brighton, Fridley & Mpls. Police Team Up To Find Armed Robbers

Minneapolis, New Brighton and Fridley police departments are asking for the public's help in identifying two armed men who may have robbed two gas stations in the past week. The first robbery happened at 5:45 a.m. last Friday at a New Brighton gas station near Silver Lake Road and West River Road East, according to Minneapolis Police. Investigators think the same men may have robbed a Fridley SuperAmerica at 5667 University Ave. NE on Thursday morning, also at 5:45 a.m. A shot was fired during Thursday's robbery, but no one was injured.

2 Hit By Stray Bullets, 3 Arrested In Downtown Mpls. Shootout

The incident happened on 2nd Avenue near 5th Street at about 2:30 a.m. when passengers from two separate cars began firing shots at each other, according to Minneapolis Police. Warrant Issued For Mpls. Man Suspected Of Cockfighting

A warrant has been issued for a Minneapolis man who was charged with cruelty to animals in connection with a cockfighting ring. Minneapolis Police and Minneapolis Animal Control seized several roosters, chickens, hens and cockfighting paraphernalia from a home at 3502 Newton Ave. N. in Minneapolis on Jan. 10, according to the Hennepin County Attorney's office.

A women was shot by a stray bullet while sleeping early Sunday morning, according to Minneapolis Police. The incident happen just after 2:30 a.m., when a bullet struck the woman in her arm while she was asleep in an upstairs bedroom in a home on the 700 block of Sheridan Ave. N. The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries, and refused medical transport.

He was biking to his job at the Minikahda Club near Lake Calhoun when he was struck from behind by an SUV at the intersection of Excelsior Boulevard and 32nd Street in Minneapolis.

Firefighters responded to a report of a fire at a single-family home at 2940 Washburn Ave. N. just before 6:30 p.m. Crews entered the home and quickly put out a fire in the living room. Minneapolis Police are investigating the alleged sexual assaults of two 10-year-old girls, which took place Wednesday morning on the playground at Anderson Elementary School. Joleana Williams, a parent of one of the alleged victims, says the assaults started as a game of chase between two 10-year-girls and three of their male classmates. "It turned into the boys aggressively chasing them. My daughter fell and one of the boys got on top of her," Williams said.
