The Minnesota Twins reinstated third baseman Trevor Plouffe and utilityman Eduardo Nunez from the disabled list Monday, putting both of them right back in the lineup for the series opener against Kansas City. Plouffe and Nunez each missed 14 games after their injuries June 14 at Detroit. Plouffe hurt his rib cage, and Nunez, who played in four games on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Rochester, strained his right hamstring. Manager Ron Gardenhire had Plouffe batting sixth and Nunez hitting eighth as the shortstop against the Royals at Target Field.
The Minnesota Twins have reinstated third baseman Trevor Plouffe and utilityman Eduardo Nunez from the disabled list. The moves were made before Monday's game against Kansas City.
Kendrys Morales had a tiebreaking double off Texas closer Joakim Soria in the top of the ninth inning and the Minnesota Twins snapped a 10-game road losing streak with a 3-2 victory over the Rangers on Sunday. Morales' line drive landed just inside the foul line in left field, and a leaping security guard avoided touching the ball, allowing pinch-runner Sam Fuld to score from first base.
Phil Hughes hoped to turn around the fortunes of a Minnesota Twins team that came 0-4 on its current road trip and winless in the previous nine games away from Target Field. An early run was all the Rangers needed with Yu Darvish on the mound to hand Minnesota another road loss. Darvish held the Twins scoreless through eight innings on only four singles, two by Chris Parmelee, as Texas went on to win 5-0.
The Minnesota Twins have called up right-handed pitcher Yohan Pino from Triple-A Rochester, just one day after sending him down. The move was made before Friday's game at Texas, when the Twins also placed shortstop/center fielder Danny Santana on the 15-day disabled list with a bone bruise in his left knee.

Mike Trout and Albert Pujols drove in two runs apiece, Jered Weaver pitched seven strong innings, and the Los Angeles Angels completed a perfect homestand with a 6-4 victory over the Minnesota Twins on Thursday. Pujols had three hits and Josh Hamilton drove in a run to help the Angels win their sixth straight and move a season-best 11 games over .500 (44-33).

Yes, Kevin Love is the subject of trade talks by the Minnesota Timberwolves. The star power forward is still one of the notable names scheduled for the celebrity softball competition at Target Field, as part of festivities leading up to the Major League Baseball All-Star game.
The countdown is on! In less than a month, baseball's biggest names will be in the Twin Cities for an All-American celebration: Major League Baseball's All-Star Game. This is the third Mid-Summer Classic the Twins have been honored to host.
Ten years. Two hundred ninety-two games. One thousand ninety-three and two-thirds innings. That's how long Yohan Pino had to slog his way through the minor leagues before finally getting his shot at the big leagues. And, in an ironic twist few sports other than baseball could provide, he had to wait an extra two hours on Thursday night thanks to a steady rain that delayed the start of the Twins vs. White Sox until 9:16 p.m.
Facial hair seems almost mandatory in Major League Baseball, and the American League Central has some of the best.
We here at the WCCO.com Twins Blog are naturally big baseball fans, so we always look forward to the All-Star Game. All the more so this season because the Mid-Summer Classic is being held at Target Field. One of the joys of baseball's annual honor for the best in the game, is that fans get to play a significant role in selecting who gets play in the game.
The elation in the Minnesota dugout after Chris Parmelee broke a scoreless tie on a solo homer in the 10th inning didn't last long. Seemingly on the verge of ending a four-game losing streak, the Twins instead lost their fifth in a row when Boston's David Ortiz and Mike Napoli delivered back-to-back homers off Casey Fien and the Red Sox won it 2-1 Wednesday.
The Boston Red Sox are still looking for a position for Brock Holt. The versatile rookie has made the search difficult by playing well wherever the club has put him. Holt made his first professional start in center field and he appeared perfectly comfortable in his fifth position this season. He made a sensational diving catch to end the third inning and scored both Boston runs in the Red Sox's 2-1 win over the Minnesota Twins 2-1 on Tuesday night.

The last time baseball's All-Star Game was in Minnesota Pete Rose was still playing, the Metrodome was brand new, and it cost $2 to watch the home run derby. A lot has changed in 29 years. This year, the Minneapolis Area Convention and Visitors Bureau projects the four-day All-Star Game events will bring in $75 million, and draw 160,000 visitors.
Despite falling a single short of hitting for the cycle in front of his childhood idol, Eugenio Suarez still had a memorable game. Playing in just his eighth career game, Suarez had a double, triple, homer, two RBIs and scored three runs in Detroit's 12-9 victory Saturday. He grounded into a force out in the eighth inning, ending his bid for the cycle.
Onas Farfan loves baseball. So much so, that his family moved him to the U.S. to play. Farfan spent most of his youth in Venezuela, but at age 16 his mother and father decided to send to hime Minnesota to live with an aunt, and to chase the American dream.
Ron Gardenhire will be in the dugout with the AL All-Stars at his home stadium. The Minnesota manager was chosen along with Cleveland's Terry Francona as coaches to join AL manager John Farrell of Boston in the July 15 All-Star game at Target Field. For the NL, manager Mike Matheny of St. Louis chose Clint Hurdle of Pittsburgh and Fredi Gonzalez of Atlanta as his coaching staff.
