Will Tropical Storm Jerry impact South Florida? See the storm's projected path

Tropical Storm Jerry, the 10th named storm of the 2025 hurricane season, formed Tuesday morning. Currently, it poses no threat to South Florida.

Where is Jerry?

As of Friday morning, Jerry was about 80 miles east-southeast of the northern Leeward Islands, according to the National Hurricane Center. It was packing maximum sustained winds of 50 mph and moving northwest at 16 mph.

Jerry is expected to continue moving west-northwest over the next few days toward or just north of the Leeward Islands. Friday morning, NHC said Jerry's center was pulling away from the Leeward Islands, but is still bringing flooding rains.

Even though the storm may pass north of the islands, there will still be a risk of strong winds, surf and potential heavy rain.

Watches and warnings

A tropical storm watch was in effect Wednesday for Antigua, Barbuda, Anguilla, St. Kitts, Nevis, and Montserrat, St. Barthelemy, St. Martin, Saba and St. Eustatius, Guadeloupe and the islands adjacent to it.

Over the weekend, a turn to the north is forecast, which will take Jerry north toward Bermuda, with a turn to the northeast expected after that.

As the storm nears Bermuda, the swells moving out from the storm may cause rough surf and rip currents along portions of the Eastern U.S. and Canadian coastlines.

The NEXT Weather Team will continue to monitor the latest advisories on Jerry and update the track as needed.
