An apparent DUI crash into a tree that took out a power pole shut down a stretch of Huntington Drive in Monrovia.
The massive tree reportedly fell around 2:30 p.m. in the 800 block of Roanoke Road.
The toppled power pole brought down power lines on top of the two cars, sparking a fire and knocking out power to thousands of LADWP customers throughout the area, all the way into Studio City.
Officials said it could take 24 to 36 hours to fully restore power to more than 1.4 million customers.
Power was out in the area south of Wilshire Blvd. and west of La Cienega after a transformer blew.
Power has been largely restored at Disneyland after an outage at the Southern California theme park forced some guests to be escorted off stopped rides.
