LANCASTER (CBSLA) – A child was shot and wounded in Lancaster Monday morning.

The shooting was reported sometime before 11 a.m. in 200 block of East Avenue J-8.

The child sustained a gunshot wound to the leg, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Authorities say the child was airlifted to a hospital, accompanied by a parent.

It's unclear how the shooting occurred or whether a suspect has been identified or arrested.
