Gradual Warm Up For Front Range

By Dave Aguilera

DENVER (CBS4) - In the wake of our last Arctic blast we will now have a ridge of high pressure forming over the Rockies that will gradually warm things up around eastern Colorado.

At the same time a dip in the jet stream on the West Coast is bringing in copious amounts of moisture into the west coast. In fact, large areas of California are under flood warnings and winter storm warnings this weekend.

Some areas of California may see 5 to 10 inches of rain over the next few days with 2 to 5 feet of snow in some of the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

Some of that moisture will make it into our Colorado mountains Saturday night into the beginning of next week! There is a Winter Storm Watch posted for Saturday night into Monday night for the mountains around Steamboat Springs down into the Flattops for 1 to 2 feet of snow!

For Denver and the Front Range this flow will create a downslope wind that will cause temperatures to rise into the 50s to near 60 degrees on Sunday and Monday with windy conditions.
