Terry Ivory, 24, was arrested on Sunday by Chicago police in the 0-100 block of West Lake Street.
The victim ran from the scene, and the offender was placed into custody by arriving officers.
The victim suffered a cut to the left abdomen and was taken to Northwestern Hospital in good condition.
