Meanwhile Wednesday, a new state-funded migrant shelter is located in a former CVS drugstore at 2634 S. Pulaski Rd.
Marc Smith had been set to step down from DCFS at the end of 2023, but will stay on an extra month to ensure a smooth transition, according to the governor's office.
