The robbery happened at 6:14 a.m. on a train at the Fullerton station.
Police said the 45-year-old victim was on a train at the Fullerton stop when he was approached by several people who struck him several times, and then took his personal property. The robbers ran from the scene.
Janet Martin has been with the agency for 32 years, 25 of which as a customer service representative at the Armitage Brown Line Station.
Neighbors in Lincoln Park came together to throw Martin a party and to say thanks.
The 17-year-old boy was charged with four felony counts of robbery and three felony counts of aggravated battery to a transit employee/passenger. He also received an additional aggravated battery charge, causing great bodily harm.
Police said they don't have a lot of info on the shooting as the victims are not cooperating.
Police were out in force at the Sox-35th Street station Thursday night.

Police said a 30-year-old man was on the sidewalk in the 700 block of South Cicero Avenue around 10:40 a.m., when someone in a black Nissan pulled up and started shooting.

Police have released surveillance images of the robbers, and asked anyone who recognizes them to contact CPD public transit detectives at 312-745-4706.

A passenger told CBS News Chicago that the train stopped abruptly and made no loud noises. The operator then announced that the train had derailed, which the agency later confirmed.
"The cause of the incident is being investigated, and the track is being repaired for damages associated with the incident and remains safe for operation," the agency said.
The two-car train crashed into a snow plow around 10:30 a.m. Nov. 17, 2023, on the main tracks adjacent to the Howard rail yard in Rogers Park.
The NTSB pointed to three factors for the crash.
