A Yellow Line train hit a piece of snow removal equipment at the Howard rail yard along its route.
It happened in the 1600 block of West Howard Street around 1:51 p.m.
The accident happened on Columbus Drive in Grant Park.
The southbound No. J14 Jeffery Jump bus was serving the Columbus/Roosevelt stop when it was struck from behind, police said.
The unrelated shooting happened near the Howard terminal in Rogers Park.
