The shooting appeared to be random, police said. The suspect was found on another train and police recovered a weapon.
Police said a man stabbed the 37-year-old victim after a fight on the train near the Wilson stop.
Detectives said around 2:10 a.m., two men and a woman approached a woman while on the train at the 47th Street stop in the 200 block of West 47th Street.
The transit agency said it is not releasing the exact locations where the technology is being used "for security reasons," but said Thursday that it targeted stations across its system.
