A young mother of two nearly died after a day at Brookfield Zoo. She wants to warn others about what she believes is a danger there and she spoke with CBS 2's Dave Savini in this original report.
Born on June 13th, Brookfield Zoo's snow leopard cub made it's debut this Wednesday, September 18th. When we last checked in with the cub in August, it weighed 10 pounds. It's now a whopping 15 pounds and growing. You can see the cub with his mother, Sarani, and father, Sabu, in Brookfield Zoo's "Big Cats" exhibit.
The male cub now tips the scales at 10 pounds and is spending time bonding with his mother. The public will be able to see the pair starting in mid-September.
A female baby dolphin calf born just last week has died. The zoo confirms the death of the bottlenose dolphin, who was the offspring of 26-year-old and Brookfield Zoo resident Allie.
After being closed for two days due to flooding and street closures in the area, the Brookfield Zoo will reopen on Saturday, although it will close an hour earlier than normal.
The animals are doing fine, zoo directors said, and the zoo will have staff on site to continue to look after them.
