Expect sunshine to win out for the first half of the day before clouds quickly increase from west to east around noontime associated with an approaching cold front. Despite the increase in clouds, however, temperatures will reach a splendid 75-80 degrees areawide, with lower 70's likely along the Cape and Islands. Winds will be gusty at 15-25mph from the southwest.
Look for a breezy mix of sun and clouds Monday. A few instability showers may pop across the north where there will be lingering clouds along with the upper low which will continue to pull away. Partly to Mostly sunny skies in the south with highs climbing into the upper 60's and Lwr 70's. Winds could gust to 30-35 mph with SW winds tomorrow .
Perfect for today's game or really any time the Patriots play and you don't have tickets, the locations below are sure to beat out your couch.
With this morning's low lifting north and east of the region, we will dry out as mentioned with North winds wrapping in around the departing low. However thanks to abundant cloud cover temperatures will struggle to reach 60 degrees in most locations with the "Hot Spot" being far southeastern MA where proximity to a warm front will allow temperatures to reach a balmy 65-67 degrees.
With the cold front offshore, we can expect a rapid increase in sunshine this morning with mostly sunny skies developing. Although we are behind the cold front, the coolest of the fall air is still well off to our northwest, and as a result temperatures will climb into the lower 70's most locations, with light northwesterly winds. It doesn't get much better than this (unless the Patriots win of course).
By bringing along the following five products, it is sure to be a warm and entertaining experience with cool drinks and hot football fare.
With a weak ridge of high pressure still in place, just enough sinking air remains in place so by the afternoon, this deck of clouds will begin to thin inland giving way to increasing sunshine inland where high temps could climb into the Lwr 70's...especially in western New England who will see the most sun. Clouds will hold longer on the coast, but eventually the sun will emerge this afternoon. Light east winds will keep it cooler at the coast again in the Lwr-mid 60's. Cape Cod and the Islands will have a mostly cloudy day with the risk of being clipped with some light showers from the midday through afternoon.
Cool High pressure sits over New England this morning with cool calm conditions. Temps in the 40's and 50's will be warming inot the 60's this afternoon. Light NE winds will keep it cooler at the coast 62-65, very similar to the current Ocean Temp. It will be slightly warmer inland 65-68 away from the onshore flow.
Clouds will be in place through about 10 or 11 AM...before a sharp clearing line will be working towards the coast by lunchtime. Temps have been cooling behind the front this morning into the 50's and Lwr 60's. Once the sunshine comes out in full this afternoon, temps will give another run towards 70-72 degrees, but will start to fall later in the day with the lowering sun angles and breezy NW winds pushing in the much cooler air from Canada which will settle in tonight.
A milder SSE wind is in place this morning with temps in the 50's and Lwr 60's. Early Breaks of morning sun are fading to Mostly Cloudy skies. Highs will climb to near 70-75 by late in the day with mainly dry, muggy and breezy conditons for Eastern MA. Not a bad day on the Cape. Winds will pick up from the south this afternoon with gusts to 30 mph.
Sunshine and light SW winds will allow temps to warm up quickly this morning into the afternoon. Highs will be climbing into the mid-upper 70's inland. Winds will be light enough to turn onshore during the afternoon...a sea breeze will keep temps in the Lwr 70s at the beach. High clouds may increase a bit during the afternoon...but just an all around stellar day outside.
The U.S. Commerce Department has declared a national fishery disaster in New England, opening the door for tens of millions of dollars in relief funds for fishermen.
Periodic light showers will be shifting to SE MA and the Cape for the Afternoon where it will remain a bit damp. It is a dry day in Boston points, N & W. Clearing skies with drier air will try to push to the coast but it will not be easy. Sunshine in western New England should arrive near Worcester by 2 or 3 PM. It will take the entire day for the clearing line t reach the coast unfortunately. Winds are lighter today out of the NNE. With clouds and cool wind off the water...60's and Lwr 70's at the beaches, Lwr-mid 70's inland where we will see some increasing afternoon sunshine.
Some may be stuck in the clouds for much of the day. On the Cape there is sunshine! A gorgeous morning. I do expect a gradual thinning and lifting to the clouds for partial sun to emerge by the late morning into the early afternoon. I think we are looking at a decent beach day for sky conditions, once the clouds burn off, but wind and waves may be another issue. Any emerging sun will help to fuel the development of afternoon storms.

Our computer models continue in a westward shift with the track of Tropical Storm this morning. Yesterday, models leaned towards taking the storm into the FL panhandle. Today, they seem to be favoring a track into Louisiana. There is still a great deal of uncertainty with the eventual outcome of landfall...somewhere between Pensacola FL and New Orleans Early Wed AM. How strong? Cat 2 likely. 100+ mph...but could be stronger depending upon the track and the depth of the warm water the storm tracks over. Cat 3 can not be ruled out. Storm Surge will be dependent upon the strength of the storm as seas/waves become bigger with deeper pressure falls and stronger winds. Where ever this storm hits it will come with significant storm surge flooding and damaging winds. All of this happening on the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. The path into New Orleans is the worst direction a hurricane can take for the city 6 feet under sea level. Levees could be tested again. All we can do is hope for a shift to the East...but then Mobile, Biloxi and Pensacola are the target. Answers to strength, track, surge, impact will come in the coming days. For now...all we can do is monitor.
